A/C and Refrigeration

  • Associate in Applied Science Degree
  • Long-term Certificate

The increase in climate control systems being used in both the home and workplace is just one reason why the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration program can be your ticket to a rewarding career in just two short years.

Employment of heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers is expected to increase faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2011. As the population and economy grow, so does the demand for new residential, commercial, and industrial climate-
control systems.

Your Future at Your Fingertips

The majority of graduates from the program move into the field as technicians with particular areas of expertise. Technicians install, maintain, and repair systems that control the temperature, humidity, and even the cleanliness of the air in homes, offices, factories, and schools. The placement rate of graduates of the Bevill State Air Conditioning & Refrigeration program has exceeded 95% in recent years, with many students obtaining employment prior to graduation.

Among various occupations graduates are qualified to seek are appliance technician, Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) service technician, HVAC installer, HVAC dealer, HVAC parts dealer, commercial refrigeration technician or service writer, duct installer, and restaurant refrigeration technician.

Persons interested in becoming ACR technicians should possess basic skills in math, mechanical drawing, electricity, physics and blueprint reading. Good written/oral communication skills along with good hand-eye coordination are important in this field.

Training and Experience are Rewarded
