The Alabama Legislature has approved supplemental appropriations from the Education Trust Fund (ETF) for Bevill State Community College (BSCC) in the amount of $3,480,000 as part of House Bill 138 within the 2022 Regular Legislative Session. These funds will be utilized by the College for the growth and improvement of instructional programs. This will be a series of projects that are rolled out in phases.
“Bevill State is appreciative to our legislative delegation for their continued support,” stated Dr. Joel Hagood, President of Bevill State Community College. “I would especially like to thank Senator Greg Reed for recognizing the importance of educational and workforce opportunities at the College. He has always been a leader in assisting to improve, expand, and create programs that will benefit the people in the Bevill State service area.”
“In the past, Senator Reed has worked diligently to secure funds for Bevill State for projects such as the creation of the Career Pathways program, the return of athletic programs, the expansion of the Mine Safety program to include a longwall simulation, the new Utility Vegetation Management program, and multiple capital improvement projects across our campuses,” continued Hagood.
“It is my absolute honor and privilege to represent Bevill State Community College and the students of Senate District 5,” said Senate President Pro Tem Greg Reed. “This institution is renowned for their involvement in the communities and assisting high school students in their transition to higher learning. I am eager about the upcoming projects that Bevill has lined up and look forward to assisting in their implementation. In the current Fiscal Year 2022 and the forthcoming Fiscal Year 2023, the legislature has secured nearly $5 million for Bevill State Community College.
