Bevill State Community College (BSCC) is pleased to announce they will now be offering Fall Daytime Admissions for the Nursing Program on the Sumiton Campus. Applications for this first Fall cohort are now available, with a May 1 application deadline. Applications are available on the Bevill State website Nursing Program page.
Bevill State currently offers Nursing Programs at each of their five locations. High application numbers have led to expansions in this program across the College. The Fayette campus currently has Spring and Fall Daytime admissions for their program. The Hamilton Campus currently has Spring and Summer Daytime admissions for their program. The Jasper campus has a day and evening program. The Sumiton campus program will now have Spring and Fall Daytime admissions.
“This Spring, Bevill State has 466 students in the Nursing Program college-wide,” stated Dr. Reitha Cabaniss, Director of the Nursing Program College-Wide. “The reputation of our program, along with the current high demand in the healthcare industry, has led to us receiving more qualified applicants than we can accept. We are expanding our program to meet the needs in the communities we serve.”
“Bevill State’s Nursing Program has exceptional instructors and clinical partners. This is reflected in the success of our program,” said Dr. Stephanie Adair, Nursing Chair for Bevill State Community College’s Jasper and Sumiton campuses. “Many hospitals, some of those being our partners, are currently offering signing bonuses because there is such demand for nurses. All of these factors have led to the need for us to grow our program.” Adair also mentioned that Bevill State is always looking for Clinical Adjunct Faculty as the program expands. Those with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing are eligible.
The minimum admission standards for the Bevill State Community College Nursing Program include: unconditional admission to the College, transcripts from all colleges attended, a completed nursing application must be submitted online via the BSCC website, a minimum 18 ACT composite score, a minimum of 2.5 GPA on the nursing required academic core courses, and a minimum 2.5 GPA for high school students without prior college work (GED acceptable). Additional information can be found on the Bevill State Community College website.
