Institutional Scholarships

Bevill State offers numerous institutional scholarships including academic, leadership/service, and performing arts. A brief description of each scholarship offered at Bevill State, the award amount, and the criteria for the selection and retention of the scholarship are listed below. Scholarships are awarded for one year. Students may be eligible for the renewal of their scholarship for the second year based on their cumulative GPA. Students will not be eligible to receive an institutional scholarship for more than two consecutive years.

These scholarships are based on such criteria as academic merit, extracurricular activity participation, prior career technical training and leadership ability. Any student who meets eligibility requirements will be considered for the following scholarships. Academic Scholarships

Scholarships are based on such criteria as academic merit, extracurricular activity participation, prior career technical training and leadership ability. Awards are
made on a competitive basis and meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee a scholarship. Scholarships are awarded for one year. Students
may be eligible for the renewal of their scholarship for the second year based on their cumulative GPA. Students will not be eligible to receive an institutional
scholarship for more than two consecutive years. Award recipients may not exceed 57 semester hours for an academic year. In addition, recipient may not exceed
82 semester hours for the two-year award limit.

PRESIDENTIAL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must be a high school graduate during the academic year (Aug.-May) from a regionally accredited high school, be within the top 10% of the class with a minimum 3.75 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and a minimum ACT score of 24. The award covers tuition and applicabale fees up to 16 hours per semester for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters with the award based on enrollment status. The recipient must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) while attending Bevill State and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Applicant must be a high school graduate with at least a 3.5 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 21. The award is $3,000 ($1,500 per term) for fall and spring semesters with the award based on enrollment status. The recipient must be enrolled at least halftime (6 credit hours) while attending Bevill State and maintain a 3.0 GPA. The award may be applied toward tuition and applicable fees.

ACADEMIC HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must be a high school graduate with at least a 3.25 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 18. The recipient must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) while attending Bevill State and maintain a 2.75 GPA. This award is $2,000 ($1,000 per term) for fall and spring semesters with the award based on enrollment status. The award may be applied toward tuition and applicable fees.

CAREER TECHNICAL HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must meet program requirements. In addition, applicant must exhibit interest and/or experience in the career technical education/training field. Selected recipients must be accepted into a Career Technical program and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Recipients may be awarded $3,000 per year ($1,000 per term) for fall, spring and summer semesters based on enrollment status. The recipient must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) while attending Bevill State. The award may be applied toward tuition and applicabale fees.

DEAN’S MERIT - CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Applicant must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at Bevill State during the Spring 2017 semester with a minimum 3.20 GPA. Applicant must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours (non-developmental hours) at BSCC and no more than 45 credit hours to be eligible for this scholarship. Recipients must maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA. Recipients may be awarded $3,000 per year ($1,000 per term) for fall, spring, and summer semesters based on enrollment status. The award may be applied toward tuition and fees. This is a one year award only and is not renewable.

Leadership & Service Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded based on the students’ participation in clubs, organizations and extra-curricular activities. In addition to maintaining a specified cumulative grade point average, selected recipients must perform service activities for the College as specified in the respective scholarship categories’ guidelines/constitutions.

AMBASSADOR SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must be a high school graduate with at least a 3.25 high school GPA (or a minimum 2.75 Bevill State GPA for currently enrolled degree seeking students) and a minimum ACT score of 18. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must also include an essay. The essay should be no more than 500 words, and cover the topic, Describe what being a BSCC Ambassador means to you. Applicants will be considered for Ambassador at all Bevill State campuses; however, only one interview per applicant will be conducted on the indicated preferred campus.
 

Ambassadors serve as the College’s official host and hostesses. Recipients must attend as full-time students, maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and abide by the Ambassador policies and procedures. The award covers tuition and applicabale fees up to 19 hours per semester for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

SCHOLARS' BOWL SCHOLARSHIP - Fayette & Jasper Campuses

Applicant must be a high school graduate with at least a 3.0 GPA, or a currently enrolled degree seeking Bevill State student with a 2.75 minimum GPA. Consideration is given to applicants who were actively involved in their high school Scholars’ Bowl Team. Selected recipients must attend Bevill State as a full-time student and abide by the Scholars’ Bowl guidelines. Recipients are required to maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA. The award is $2,000 ($1,000 per term) for one year, fall and spring semesters only. The award may be applied toward tuition and applicable fees.

Performing Arts Scholarships

Instrumental & Vocal (Choral) - Jasper Campus

Applicant must be a high school graduate with at least a 3.0 GPA, or a currently enrolled degree seeking Bevill State student with a 2.75 minimum GPA. Recipients must be a full-time student, maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and follow performing arts guidelines. Awards range from $1,200 to $2,400 per year based on a level of participation as determined by the Performing
Arts Department.

Theatre - Hamilton Campus

Applicant must be a high school graduate with at least a 3.0 GPA (or a minimum 2.75 GPA for currently enrolled Bevill State students). Recipients must be a full-time student, maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and follow Performing Arts-Theatre guidelines. This award is $1500 ($750 per term) for one year, fall and spring semesters. The award may be applied to tuition and applicable
fees.
