Foundation and Designated Scholarships

BSCC offers a wide array of endowed/foundation and designated scholarships. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please fill out the online application. Foundation scholarships are awarded specific to each campus of Bevill State. To learn more about the Foundations at Bevill State Community College, please click here.

Fayette Campus Scholarships

DR. HAROLD WADE SCHOLARSHIP

The BSCC Foundation scholarship established by the family of former Bevill State president Dr. Harold Wade. This $3000 award covers tuition and fees for one year, rotated annually in alphabetic order among Fayette, Hamilton, and Sumiton Campuses. Awarded by the standing Scholarship Committee on each campus based on academic merit and financial need. Priority to student who does not qualify for any Pell Grant funds, but still has established need based on the FAFSA Estimated Family Contribution.

BOVAY FOUNDATION GUARANTEED TUITION PROGRAM

Established in 2011 through the generosity of Mr. Harry E. Bovay, Jr., the BFGTP provides all Lamar County high school students or GED recipients the opportunity to attend BSCC for two full years, tuition fee. Click here for a Bovay Scholarship application and specific requirements.

WINFIELD FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

The Winfield Foundation Scholarship provides any Winfield high school students tuition free attendance for the fall and spring semester of their freshman year at Bevill State up to 16 credit hours. Applicants should contact the Winfield High School guidance counselor for application procedures.

MRS. SYDNIA WADE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The BSCC Foundation scholarship established by the family of former Bevill State president Dr. Harold Wade to honor the memory of his mother, Mrs. Sydnia Wade. The award is a $500 book scholarship to be awarded using the same criteria and process as the Dr. Harold Wade Scholarship.

BILLY FORD BOYETT AND BILLY STEVON BOYETT SCHOLARSHIP

The Boyett Scholarship is a full tuition and fee scholarship for up to 64 semester hours at either the Fayette or Hamilton campus of Bevill State. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving senior at Sulligent High School. For more information, contact the principal’s office at Sulligent High School.

A.L. FRANKS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The A.L. Franks Memorial Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded annually to a senior at Fayette County High School who plans to pursue a career in criminal justice. Applications are available from the counselor’s office at Fayette County High School.

AARON GEIST MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Aaron Geist Memorial Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded annually to an outstanding student-athlete at Berry High School. For more information, contact the principal’s office at Berry High School.

JONATHAN KIMBRELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The family and friends of the late Jonathan Kimbrell established this scholarship to honor his memory and recognize the achievements of a graduating senior from Northside High School. The amount of the scholarship varies and selection is made by the Fayette Campus Scholarship Committee.

MOORE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established by the Allen H. Moore family, this scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding senior at Winfield High School. The amount of the scholarship varies. Interested students should contact the principal’s office at Winfield High School.

EARL McDONALD SCHOLARSHIPS

This endowed scholarship program was established in 1994 through a generous contribution from the late Mr. Earl McDonald, a former businessman from Fayette. This $5000 scholarship can be used toward tuition, fees and book and is awarded annually based upon academics, leadership, and financial need. Selection is made by the Fayette Campus Scholarship Committee based upon academics, leadership, and financial need.

BLANCHE SIMPSON WHITLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Generous donations from the family of the late Blanche Simpson Whitley and DCH-Fayette Medical Center have established a scholarship in her name at Bevill State Community College. The Blanche Simpson Whitley Memorial Scholarship provides a $1000 scholarship to a deserving student in Whitley’s lifelong career field of nursing, which she served in at Fayette County Hospital beginning in 1947.

PAULA THOMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Paula Thompson Memorial Scholarship is a $1000 scholarship awarded each year to a graduate of Fayette County High School. Selection is made by the Fayette Campus Scholarship Committee and is based upon academics, leadership, and citizenship.

GUTHRIE SMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The BSCC Foundation scholarship established in honor of former mayor of Fayette and long-time friend of the College, the late Mr. Guthrie Smith. The $3000 scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding senior at Fayette County High School and is based upon academic merit and leadership ability.  The award can be used toward tuition and fees only.

NELL SPEARS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established by the family of Nell Spears, this $1000 scholarship awarded annually to an outstanding graduate of Fayette County High School. For more information, contact the counselor's' office at Fayette County High School.

PHIFER INC. SCHOLARSHIPS

This endowed scholarship program was established for children of full-time Phifer employees. The amount of the annual award varies and can be used toward tuition and fees at any campus of Bevill State. Applications are available from Phifer's HR department or ESP office.

FAYETTE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are made possible through generous donations from the Tillotson Corporation to the Fayette Community Foundation. Recipients are chosen by the Fayette Campus Scholarship Committee based upon academic merit. The following details awards made to Fayette County residents: two $6000 awards to graduating seniors at Hubbertville High School; two $6000 awards to graduating seniors at Berry High School; one $6000 award and one $9000 award (Michelle Bowden Memorial) to graduating seniors from Fayette County High School; three $1000 awards to the most outstanding GED recipients.

LOGAN/GREEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Logan/Green Memorial Scholarship is a $600 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, books, or supplies. Eligible applicants are graduating seniors of Brilliant High School with a GPA above 2.0 who will be attending the Hamilton Campus.

ERNEST RANKIN FITE SCHOLARSHIP

The Ernest Rankin Fite Scholarship is a $690 award per academic year that can be used for tuition, fees, or books. Eligibile appplicants are residents of Marion County who are graduates of a high school in Marion County and attending the Hamilton Campus.

CLYDE NIX SCHOLARSHIP

The Clyde Nix Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books. Eligible applicants are graduating seniors of Hamilton High School who demonstrate excellent academic performance, as well as school and community leadership ability.

JENNIFER MILLICAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This memorial scholarship was established by the Millican family to honor the late Jennifer Millican. The scholarship may be used for tuition, fees or books and is awarded to a Hamilton High School senior who attends the Hamilton campus of Bevill State.

3M FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

This one time scholarship is awarded to a U.S. Citizen in North Alabama in the counties of Marion, Fayette, Lamar, Walker, Winston, Lawrence, Limestone or Morgan. The award is based on merit and need with priority given to students interested in the fields of science and engineering.

PHIFER INC. SCHOLARSHIPS

This endowed scholarship program was established for children of full-time Phifer employees. The amount of the annual award varies and can be used toward tuition and fees at any campus of Bevill State. Applications are available from Phifer's HR department or ESP office.

Jasper Campus Scholarships

H. GUY ABLE, SR. SCHOLARSHIP

The H. Guy Able, Sr Scholarship is a $65 per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books. The scholarship is available to graduating students from Berry High School in Fayette County that show a need for financial assistance.

WILLIAM J. AMUNDSON SCHOLARSHIP

The William Amundson Scholarship is a $175 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

GEORGE AND WILLIE AVERITT SCHOLARSHIP

The George and Willie Averitt Scholarship is a $6,895 award. Additional, the George and Willie Averitt Scholarship provides a $425 award to a male graduate of Dora High School in Walker County.

BETTY SONGER BEECH SCHOLARSHIP

The Betty Songer Beech Scholarship is a $1,575 award per academic year and can be used on tuition, fees, or books. The scholarship is awarded to a student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

JEFFREY R. BENNETT SCHOLARSHIP

The Jeffrey R. Bennett Scholarship is awarded to a student with financial need that has also displayed academic achievement. The recipient will be awarded $50.

LOU BETTS BEVILL SCHOLARSHIP – Music

The Lou Betts Bevill Scholarship is a $240 award per academic year and can be used on tuition, fees, or books. Eligible applicants must declare Music as their major.

D. J. BRASFIELD SCHOLARSHIP - Arts

The D.J. Brasfield Scholarship is a $140 award per academic year and can be used on tuition, fees, or books. Eligible applicants must declare Art as their major.

CECIL BURKETT SCHOLARSHIP

The Cecil Burkett Scholarship is a $250 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

GLEN CLEM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Glenn Clem Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students who show an interest in athletics or physical education at Bevill State. The $80 award per academic year can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

R. D. "DEAN" COLLINS SCHOLARSHIP

The R.D. Collins Scholarship is awarded to students who show an interest in banking or business at Bevill State. The $85 award per academic year can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

CHARLES AND VIRGINIA K. COWDEN

The Charles and Virginia K. Cowden Scholarship is a $500 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books. Eligible applicants must show a financial need.

HEMAN & ELIZA DRUMMOND

The Heman and Elza Drummond Scholarship is a $2,510 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

MARION "SIS" GRANT SCHOLARSHIP - WBMC AUX

The Marion “Sis” Grant Scholarship is a $300 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

PAULINE L. GUY – Music

The Pauline L. Guy Scholarship is awarded to a student in the Music program at Bevll State Community College. The $130 award per academic year can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

CARL T. HARE AND JUANITA STRICKLAND HARE SCHOLARSHIP

The Hare Scholarship is a $5,000 award for a worthwhile male or female student in the field of education at Bevill State Community College.

SON HUMPHRIES SCHOLARSHIP

The Son Humpries Scholarship is a $320 awarded annually to an outstanding senior at Walker High School. Selection is made by the three faculty members at Walker High School. Interested students should contact the principal’s office at Walker High School.

FRANCES ISRAEL/THURSDAY STUDY SCHOLARSHIP

The Frances Israel Scholarship is a $150 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

DR. CARL JESSE SCHOLARSHIP

The Dr. Carl Jesse Scholarship is a $110 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

FLORENCE KELLEY JOHNSON

The Florence Kelley Johnson Scholarship is awarded to a graduating students from Carbon Hill High School with financial aid need. The $20 award per academic year can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

JOHNNY HUGH KING SCHOLARSHIP

The Johnny Hugh King Scholarship is awarded to any student whose parent is a member of UMWA. The $20 award per academic year can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

KIWANIS

The Kiwanis Club of Jasper’s desire to advance service, leadership and education in the community awards a $1,735 scholarship to a deserving student annually.

HERMAN AND MAUDE MADDOX SCHOLARSHIP

The Herman and Maude Maddox Scholarship is a $125 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

M. L. MATHEWS SCHOLARSHIP

The M.L. Mathews Scholarship is a $1,480 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

EARNEST MCKEEVER SCHOLARSHIP

The Earnest McKeever Scholarship is a $115 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

MONTIETH/HULSEY/FERGUSON/EDGIL SCHOLARSHIP

The Montieth/Hulsey/Ferguson/Edgil Scholarship is awarded to a student who is a descendant of an original Alabama family. An affidavit is required for qualification. The $260 award per academic year can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

SAM MURPHY SCHOLARSHIP

The Sam Murphy Scholarship is a $600 award per academic year to a student that shows an interest in forestry.

SAM W. AND LAWSON W. MURPHY SCHOLARSHIP

The Sam W. and Lawson W Murphy Scholarship is a $1,550 award per academic year that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

DORRIS AND MILDRED MYERS SCHOLARSHIP - Education

The Dorris and Mildred Myers Scholarship is awarded to a less fortunate student with a desire to enter the education field. The $395 award per academic year can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

PERRY FRANKLIN NEWCOMB SCHOLARSHIP

The Perry Franklin NewComb Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student from Carbon Hill High School. The scholarship covers book costs for a student up to $740.

JEAN NICHOLSON SCHOLARSHIP

The Jean Nicholson Scholarship is a full tuition and fee scholarship for up to 64 semester hours for a student at the Jasper Campus of Bevill State. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving minority, female student.

DR. FRANCIS NICHOLSON SCHOLARSHIP

The Dr. Francis Nicholson Scholarship is a $3,210 award that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

TOM NICHOLSON SCHOLARSHIP

The Tom Nicholson Scholarship is a $3,210 award that can be used on tuition, fees or books.

DR. ED AND EDIE O’REAR SCHOLARSHIP

The Dr. Ed and Edie O’Rear Scholarship is a $230 award per academic year can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

JOHN DAVID PANTER SCHOLARSHIP

The John David Panter Scholarship is awarded to a student graduating from the Walker County School System with a minimum of a “B” Average. The $1,375 award per academic year can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

GEDDES SELF SCHOLARSHIP

The Geddes Self Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student from Walker High School. The $195 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

HARRY BENJAMIN SHERER SCHOLARSHIP

The Harry Benjamin Sherer Scholarship is awarded to a student from Walker County that shows a financial need and has a scholastic record of excellence and outstanding character. The $1,375 awarded annually can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

MARTHALENE SIMMONS SCHOLARSHIP

The Marthalene Simmons Scholarship is a $985 award that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

T. R. SIMMONS SCHOLARSHIP

The T.R. Simmons Scholarship is a $905 award that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

PAULINE NEWMARK STEINMAN SCHOLARSHIP

The Pauline Newmark Steinman Scholarship is an $800 award that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

IVA FERN STINSON SCHOLARSHIP

The Iva Fern Stinson Scholarship is a $860 award that can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

WILLIAM S. AND MINNIE THORNTON SCHOLARSHIP

The William S. and Minnie Thornton Scholarship is a $29,430 scholarship awarded to a Carbon Hill High School.

CHARLES E. TWEEDY, SR. SCHOLARSHIP

The Charles E. Tweedy, Sr. Scholarship is awarded to a male student graduating from the Walker County School System with evidence of merit. The $230 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

JULIA D. TWEEDY SCHOLARSHIP

The Julia D. Tweedy Scholarship is awarded to a female student graduating from the Walker County School System with evidence of merit. The $230 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

MRS. ELIZA LEE TWEEDY SCHOLARSHIP

The Eliza Lee Tweedy Scholarship is awarded to a female student graduating from the Winston County School System and has a desire to enter an educational field. The $225 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

VISUAL ARTS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

The Visual Arts Association Scholarship is awarded to a student majoring or showing interest in Art. The $415 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

VOITURE 1339 40 ET 8

The Voiture 1339 40 ET 8 Scholarship is awarded to a child or widow of a U.S. Armed Services veteran. The $25 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

DR. L. M. WALKER SCHOLARSHIP

The Dr. L.M. Walker Scholarship is awarded to a student majoring or showing a preference for Pre-Med education at Bevill State. The $500 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

REBA WOODFIN WALKER

The Reba Woodfin Walker Scholarship is a $1,330 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

REBA W. WALKER QUASI ENDOWMENT

The Reba W. Walker Quasi Endowment awards a deserving student $6,250 annually to be used on tuition, fees, or books.

ADDIE B. WHITTEMORE SCHOLARSHIP

The Addie B. Whittemore Scholarship is awarded to a student with qualifying high school GPA and ACT test scores. Students interested in the Addie B. Whitmore Scholarship should contact the Financial Aid office for details. The $500 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

PEYTON WIGGINS SCHOLARSHIP

The Peyton Wiggins Scholarship is awarded to a student declaring English as their major at Bevill State. The $1,375 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

NURSING

CHARLOTTE B. FLAGG SCHOLARSHIP

The Charlotte B. Flagg Scholarship is awarded to a nursing student at Bevill State Community College. The $525 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

SHIRLEY J. KEY SCHOLARSHIP

The Shirley J. Key Scholarship is awarded to a second year nursing student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher on the Jasper or Sumiton Campus. The $20 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

SARA CATHERINE WALKER MURPHY SCHOLARSHIP

The Sara Catherine Walker Murphy Scholarship is awarded to a nursing student at Bevill State Community College. The $600 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

CHARLES E. TWEEDY, JR. SCHOLARSHIP

The Charles E. Tweedy Jr. Scholarship is awarded to a nursing student at Bevill State Community College that shows a financial aid need. The $200 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

KYRSTA LANGLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Kyrsta Langley Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Walker or Curry High School graduate in the nursing program that has a financial aid need. The $50 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

JUNE O’REAR DEAVOURS SCHOLARSHIP

The June O’Rear Deavours Scholarship is awarded to a nursing student at Bevill State Community College. The $3,080 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

MAYO AND JEANETTE GUTHRIE SCHOLARSHIP

The May and Jeanette Guthrie Scholarship is awarded to a nursing student at Bevill State Community College. The $1,500 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

JOHN MARK TIREY SCHOLARSHIP

The John Mark Tirey Scholarship is awarded to a nursing student at Bevill State Community College. The $100 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.

PHIFER INC. SCHOLARSHIPS

DIANE WEAVER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants for the Diane Weaver McCullar Scholarship must be a graduate of the Bevill State Community College LPN program on the Sumiton Campus. Applicants must pass the LPN challenge exam and possess a current LPN license. Students should file an application to the Bevill State ADN program on the Sumiton Campus and must establish need by filing the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid." A minimum cumulative 3.0 grade point average is required. The scholarship is renewable at the end of each term, pending academic progress.

DENNIS and NANCY CAMPBELL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was made possible through a generous donation from Dennis and Nancy Campbell and is awarded annually to a graduating senior from Sumiton Christian High School.

SHIRLEY J. KEY SCHOLARSHIP

The Shirley J. Key Scholarship is awarded to a second year nursing student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher on the Jasper or Sumiton Campus. The $20 award can be used on tuition, fees, or books.
