The mission of Bevill State Community College is to make education accessible and affordable for its constituents and to provide opportunities for educational growth.
The chief goal of the Bevill State Community College Upward Bound Programs is providing services to its participants that will assist them in preparing for and achieving success in an institution of higher learning. Selection criteria for Upward Bound participants include: low-income, potential first-generation college student, and academic need. Two-thirds of the selected participants must be both low-income and potential first- generation college student with academic need.
Upward Bound - Fayette serves eleven schools located within the five counties of the Bevill State Community College Service Area: Winfield High School in Marion County; Carbon Hill High School in Walker County; Lamar County and South Lamar High School in Lamar County; Hubbertville, Berry, and Fayette County High School in Fayette County; Gordo, Pickens County, Carrollton, and Aliceville High School in Pickens County.
Upward Bound - Hamilton serves nine high schools in Lamar, Marion, and Winston County.
Upward Bound - Sumiton Campus serves nine high schools in Walker and Jefferson County. Those schools are Cordova, Corner, Curry, Dora, Minor, Oak Grove, Oakman, Parrish and Walker.
